Image: Schlumberger logoSchlumberger is the world’s largest oilfield services provider, with reported revenues of US$ 39.54 billion and net income of US$ 4.97 billion in 2011.

The company was founded in 1926 by two French brothers and employs more than 115,000 people in approximately 85 countries. Schlumberger has three principal offices in Houston, Paris and the Hague.  It is listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

Schlumberger coordinates its activities in Uganda from its main offices in Nakawa Industrial Estate, Kampala.

In October 2011, Schlumberger was involved in a joint initiative with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development and Makerere University where they donated equipment to the university’s Petroleum Geosciences programmes. Schlumberger donated specialist geosciences software, computer hardware, infrastructure, training, and support with a combined value of over USD 3.5 million.
