Transport and logistics company, SDV Transami, is part of a larger, French group, Bollore Africa Logistics, serving as one of Bollore’s 250 agencies operating in Africa, and has worked in Uganda for 60 years. It specialises in logistics, warehousing, plant and equipment hire, clearing and forwarding.
The company has supplied services to many of the major oil players in Uganda, including Tullow, Total, CNOOC, Baker Hughes, Halliburton, and Weatherford.
Previously completed contracts in West Africa for Tullow and Heritage gave the company an inroad into Uganda’s oil and gas sector.
Its scope of operation includes movement by sea, air and land of all freight and cargo, ranging from the transportation of oil field samples to Europe for analysis to moving complete oil rigs, drilling chemicals and fluids, cement and explosives.
Elsewhere, SDV Transami has executed oil projects in West Africa, Mozambique, DR. Congo, and Kenya.
In Uganda, the company employs more than 400 staff, of whom only three are expatriates.
Aside from the oil and gas industry, the company operates warehouses across the country—in Namanve (Kampala), Pakwach and Hoima—for its core businesses of warehousing, storage and handling of machinery and equipment. Other clients include telecoms companies such as MTN, Huawei, Motorola and Ericsson.
